A pygmy goat gave birth to twins on 2nd January. The weather was bad and the mother and babies were shut into a corner of the goat shed while she was giving birth. One baby was collapsed and cold and was taken indoors and given a hot water bottle and a blanket until it was warm and dry. It was then returned to the mother and they are all now fine. Goats have a thin coat which is not waterproof so they require more shelter than sheep. Goats originated in Africa. They are hardy except to bad weather.
