A lady brought in a cardboard box of 32 baby Bearded dragons and left them on the counter. They had been bred from a pet couple of Beardies and were unwanted. We reported this in newspapers and news programmes and received a magnificent response from our staff, the general public, colleges and other zoos. We will probably succeed in re-homing them all! They are probably the best pet lizard species as they are quiet, docile and friendly and easy to feed. However they require a large heated vivarium and substrate, hides and a basking lamp as they need to raise their body temperature before feeding. The vivarium, nicely decorated can be an attractive feature in any room.
